Philadelphia 76ers President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey was fined $50,000 by the NBA for violation of the league’s anti-tampering rule. The fine stems from a now-deleted December 20 tweet in which Morey celebrated the one-year anniversary of James Harden breaking the Rockets’ all-time assist record. Sixers ship Al Horford to OKC for Danny Green and picks

From Tyler Conway of B/R: A year after inking him to a four-year, $109 million contract, the Philadelphia 76ers are moving on from Al Horford. Per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Sixers traded the 34-year-old, along with a “lightly-protected” 2025 first-round draft pick and the No. 34 overall pick in the 2020 NBA draft, to the Oklahoma City Thunder for Danny Green and Terrence Ferguson.  Wojnarowski added that Oklahoma City will also receive the rights to Vasilije Micic, who currently plays in Turkey and was drafted No. 54 overall by Philadelphia in 2014.   This…

Doc Rivers agrees to become 76ers head coach

Well that didn’t take long. Barely 72 hours after being broken off by the Los Angeles Clippers, Doc Rivers has reached an agreement to become head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the move was preceded by a “rapid courtship and negotiation.” The news likely comes to the chagrin of Mike D’Antoni, who had been previously rumoured to all but have the Sixers gig.

According to The Athletic and Stadium’s Shams Charania, the Philadelphia 76ers will be without g/f Josh Richardson against the San Antonio Spurs Friday night. This will be the second consecutive game with a hip flexor injury. His status for Saturday’s game against Miami, which would be his first time facing the Heat since he was traded, will be a game-time decision.
