Nike pays homage to the UCONN Huskies’ record winning streak

With their 88-48 thrashing of SMU Saturday, the UCONN women’s basketball team posted their 91st consecutive win, which is now the longest such streak in NCAA basketball history.  To panegyrize this momentous accomplishment, Nike presented each member of the team with a special pack. This pack included the Kyrie 3 “Grey” colorway and a shirt saluting the 91 straight victories.  Unless you are a member of the Husky team, these pictures are likely as close as you will get to this pack.

Though they have been already wearing “Pearl” warmup shirts since January, with their upcoming game this Saturday against former (and that is quite unfortunate) Big East Rival, Georgetown, they will debut sneakers that pay further homage to one of their own.  New kicks for Saturday 💯 🍊🏀 #PearlOut @OrangeEQRoom @nikebasketball pic.twitter.com/Guth4WkPBZ — Syracuse Men’s Basketball (@Cuse_MBB) December 13, 2016 The Orange’s shoes will have “31 Pearl” on the tongue in tribute to Syracuse legend Dwayne “Pearl” Washington  who balled for Syracuse from 1983-86 and his game help put Big East…

Former Baylor Star Isaiah Austin Cleared to Play Basketball

After his two seasons at Baylor, it seemed to be a forgone conclusion that Isaiah Austin would grace NBA courts. The 7’1″ center averaged 12.1 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks per game during his time in Waco (despite being blind in his right eye since the age of 16 after suffering retinal detachment). Then, what seemed out of nowhere, shortly before the NBA draft, he was diagnosed with Marfan syndrome, a rare genetic heart disorder, brought those NBA dreams to a screeching halt.  At least that what it seemed. …

As a member of the Quartermaster Mortuary Affairs company, his job was to retrieve the bodies of fallen comrades in order to return them home to their loved ones. Brock said of his job: ”…

Game 3 2016 NBA Finals: Amazing What Happens When You Put Forth a Little Effort

After not only dropping both games at Oracle, in particularly embarrassing fashion game 2, I wondered how the Cavaliers would respond by returning home for game 3. The Cavaliers took control from the tip off the strength of a dominant first quarter and never looked back. Kyrie Irving finally made his first appearance in the series, he opened up with 16 in the opening quarter en route to a 30 point evening. Lebron James came out in attack mode and finished up with 32 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists.…

This ain’t your older brother’s Big East

In sports, as in life, change is a constant however there are instances where change is not the best course. As I sat and watch last night semi hotly contested matchup between top ranked Villanova and fifth ranked Xavier, my enjoyment was tinged with wistfulness. It’s been more than two years but ,as a basketball fan,I miss the Big East, or rather what it used to be.  The conference that I have enjoyed watching  for so many years has been torn asunder. Syracuse, Pitt, and Notre Dame and Louisville now compete…

Oregon Bball brings in the new college season with exclusive kicks

The college basketball season has just kicked off and like their football counterpart, the Oregon basketball team is coming to play in exclusive gear. In their game earlier this week against Baylor, the Ducks took the court in team exclusive KD 8’s. The yellow upper serves as a backdrop for the pine tree graphics that adorn the floor of the basketball court. The same yellow is also used on the KD logo on the tongue. Kelly Green is the hue of the flywire, swoosh and tongue. Consider these another reason…
