North Carolina Football joins Basketball Team in Rocking the Jumpman

The Tar Heels now join Michigan as the second collegiate football program to don the iconic Jumpman logo. At halftime of tonight’s much anticipated UNC/Duke game, the man himself, Michael Jordan, made the announcement as he stood with Heel’s head football coach, Larry Fedora and members of the Carolina football team, all of which were wearing Jumpman emblazoned Carolina football gear.     “I’m happy to extend the Jordan Brand relationship not only for the game of basketball but for the game of football. I am extremely proud in terms…

Post Game Apologies for Blown Calls are an Insult

The closing stages of the January 21st game between the Chicago Bulls and the Sacramento Kings caused the league to have to issue a post game statement regarding the events of the contest. To clarify what happened, with under a minute to go in a game tied at 99, Dwyane Wade steals the ball from Garrett Temple, he soars in for a dunk, which he missed. Demarcus Cousins was near Wade as the swooped in for the attempted dunk, but didn’t make contact with him( I am making more contact…

Joe Mixon: Another Case of Biased Media Reporting

Unprovoked violence against anyone, regardless of sex, is wrong. No one has the right to put their hands on another person in an aggressive fashion. The recent footage that was released (somehow I find the timing odd to say the least) of the altercation University of Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon had with fellow student Amelia Molitor is very telling. Terming the media’s, and particularly the sports media’s, coverage of this story as irresponsible would be giving them an underserved courtesy.  Every news outlet leads with some variation of Mixon…

What was a bit of a surprise that he did not land at Oregon, LSU, or even Houston( Kiffin’s name had been tossed around as a possible candidate for all of those positions), but at Florida Atlantic University.  One of Kiffin’s initial signees was quarterback De’Andre Johnson. The name may be familiar to Florida State fans- Johnson was summarily dismissed from the Seminole football team following an altercation with a…

LSU breaks off HC Miles and OC Cameron

Louisiana State University is now in the market for a new Head Football Coach and an Offensive Coordinator. That is because earlier today LSU parted ways with HC Les Miles and OC Cam Cameron.  Miles has been under fire since last season, as the football team developed a pattern of getting punched in the face by teams within the SEC and even by ones out of conference. The 18-13 loss to Auburn Saturday was the proverbial straw that broke the tiger’s back.  Despite having studs on both sides of the…

Illinois breaks off 1st year HC Cubit

The University of Illinois now has an opening for a head football coach. In a move that caught many off guard, new Athletic Director Josh Whitman fired 1st year coach Bill Cubit. The move happened just a week before the Illini were set to commence spring practice. The practices are postponed until a replacement can be found.   Whitman released a statement earlier today and it was chock full of admin-speak in which he said this: “I appreciate the leadership that Bill Cubit provided our football program during what has…
