Alabama State inks deal with Adidas

Earlier today the Alabama State athletic department announced the university has entered into a five-year agreement with Adidas in which the company will be the official provider of footwear, apparel and accessories of the Hornets through the 2022-23 season. A tough season for Tennessee State came to a rough end with a 36-6 loss at the hands of the no.2 ranked Jacksonville State Gamecocks. The scoring did not get going until 4:07 to go in the first half with a Cade Stinnett 19-yard field goal, to give the Gamecocks a 3-0 lead. It was a dominating performance for Tennessee State, as the Tigers handed Virginia University of Lynchburg a 60-0 beatdown. The Tiger offense got going early, scoring on a 5-play drive that covered 58 yards and took only 2:18. Quarterback Micheal Hughes found Steven Newbold from 4 yards out for the first of his six touchdown tosses on the day. In his first start of the season, Albany State freshman quarterback Kelias Williams accounted for three touchdowns as the Golden Rams blew out Fort Valley State 34-9 in front of a crowd of 13,391 in the 28th Fountain City Classic. ASU got the scoring going in the first quarter after a 10-play, 42-yard drive ended with a Gabriel Ballinas 42-yard field goal, giving the Rams a 3-0 lead. Despite the heroics of Patrick Smith, who caught a career-high three TD passes, Tennessee State came up short against previously winless Tennessee Tech 30-26 in Cookeville. Tennessee Tech opened up the scoring in the first quarter when a 5 play, 47 yard drive resulted in a Nick Madonia 40-yard field goal giving the Golden Eagles a 3-0 lead. The Albany State Golden Rams were ranked number 8 in the Division II Super Region Two playoff standings. As only the top seven in each of the four regions make the playoffs, the Rams could ill afford any missteps the rest of the season. Albany State powers late to 34-10 win over Morehouse

The Albany State Golden Rams overcame a one point halftime deficit and then pulled away late in their 34-10 victory over the Morehouse College Maroon Tigers. Defense was the story of the first half for both ball clubs as the respective units for the Rams and Tigers gave up a combined 107 yards of total offense. Tennessee State dropped a pivotal Ohio Valley Conference game ,but the Homecoming Game, to Austin Peay 21-17. Albany State, powered by a defense that held Lincoln-Missouri scoreless in the second half, defeated the Blue Tigers 30-10. Albany State’s Marquez Thomas’ interception set the Golden Rams’ offense on the Lincoln 22-yard line. ASU would take advantage of the turnover on a Kelan Fraise 1 yard touchdown run.
