As Hurricane Florence tracks toward the East Coast, it has progressed from a Category 1 storm( 90 mph winds) to a Category 4 ( 130 mph winds )in a span of just thirteen hours. Morehouse moved to 2-0 with their 42-20 defeat of Lane College. The first half was a back-and-forth affair that saw the lead swapped the lead four times. Benedict jumped on Johnson C. Smith early and never let the Golden Bulls into the game, scoring three quick touchdowns en route to a 42-14 victory this Saturday. McKendree University quarterback Reese Metcalf threw a career-high four touchdown passes in the Bearcats’ 34-17 victory over Kentucky State. Metcalf and the Bearcat offense got right to work, scoring on its first two drives. They took the opening kickoff and went on a 7-play, 65-yard drive that ended in a 5-yard touchdown pass from Metcalf to Steven Towns, Jr. The extra point gave McKendree a 7-0. It was a rainy, windy day in Wilberforce, Ohio. The center of McPerson Stadium , grass was once present, became a muddy quagmire that bogged down both offenses.
