TALLAHASSEE, FL —The Florida A&M Rattlers had a tough showing on Wednesday, falling to the Troy Trojans by final score of 12-2.

Junior Jared Townsend (0-2) got the ball to start for Florida A&M (12-13) and took the loss. Junior Grant Harrison was a bright spot for the Rattlers, coming out of the bullpen and throwing one scoreless inning, allowing no hits, with one walk and two strikeouts.

Senior Ty Hanchey led the way offensively for the Rattlers, going 1-for-3 in the ballgame with a double and an RBI. Junior Ty Jackson furnished a noteworthy effort as well, going 2-for-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Trailing 3-0, the Rattlers first put runs on the board in the first inning. Jackson came across to score the lone run of the inning for Florida A&M and get them on the board.

The Trojans expanded their lead to 5-1 before the Rattlers offense got back to work, cutting into that lead in the third. Florida A&M pushed across a run on Hanchey’s one-out RBI double, which tightened the Trojans lead to 5-2. The Rattlers were unable to get any closer, as Troy added seven runs to their tally on the way to a 12-2 final.

» Florida A&M’s highest scoring inning was the third, when it pushed one run across.
» Florida A&M pitchers faced 42 Troy hitters in the game, allowing seven ground balls and nine fly balls while striking out four.
» Hanchey led the Rattlers at the plate, going 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
» Troy was led offensively by junior Ethan Kavanagh, who went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI.
» Senior Zach Fruit led the Trojans pitching staff, throwing 2.2 scoreless innings.
