Former University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff star Zaay Green is getting another opportunity to make her mark in the WNBA.
The 6-foot-2 guard has signed a developmental contract with the Toronto Tempo, the league’s newest expansion franchise, the team announced Tuesday.
Green joins Toronto after spending the 2026 offseason playing professionally overseas in Lithuania, Cyprus, and Mexico, where she averaged 12.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 1.1 steals across 51 games.
Her collegiate journey included stops at Tennessee, Texas A&M, UAPB, and Alabama, but it was at Arkansas-Pine Bluff where she emerged as one of the most decorated players in program history. During her three seasons with the Golden Lions, Green totaled 1,278 points, 533 rebounds, 408 assists, and 176 steals, recording six triple-doubles while helping elevate the program on the national stage.
After transferring to Alabama for her final collegiate season, Green averaged 15.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, and a team-best 4.5 assists per game, leading to her selection by the Washington Mystics with the 32nd overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft. Although she was waived before the regular season, her overseas success has earned her another chance in the league.
Under the WNBA’s developmental player rule, teams may carry up to two developmental players outside of the standard 12-player active roster. Developmental players can appear in up to 12 regular-season games, giving Green an opportunity to prove she belongs at the WNBA level.
