This iteration of the Nike Book 1 draws inspiration from the Nike Cortez that Forrest Gump wore when he decided to do a bit of running.
They sport a smooth white leather upper adorned on the sides with large, red Swooshes; the same hue also is present at the Nike and Book branding that is perched atop each respective tongue, but also at the Cortez-styled rear heel overlay. Additional Cortez-inspired details I included the serrated fringe of the eye rows, the stitching, and overlays near the collar that wraps the heel.
Underneath the aforementioned upper resides a white midsole with a blue Cortez stripe and a herringbone traction pattern, which is also reminiscent of the rippled outsole of the Cortez.
As it currently stands, the Forrest Gump, Nike Book 1 is set to debut on January 24, 2024, at nike.com and select retail establishments; they will carry a 140 USD sticker price.
