Fort Valley ends Fountain City Classic skid with 31-21 win over Albany State

The Fort Valley State Wildcats ended their four game losing streak in the 32nd Fountain City Classic with a 31-21 deafeat of the Golden Rams of Albany State Saturday at AJ McClung Stadium in Columbus, GA. Albany State and Fort Valley will clash Saturday in the 32nd Annual Fountain City Classic. It is always a game of importance for not only the involved schools, as it’s a rivalry game , but this edition Carrie’s even more weight as the winner will potentially take a major step toward claiming a postseason slot. Albany State romps Morehouse 31-7

Behind a stout defense, a strong running game and some timely completions through the air, the Albany State Golden Tams defeated the Maroon Tigers of Morehouse, 31-7 in front of a crowd of 2603 at the Albany State University Coliseum. Freshman running back JaQuez Williams put together a second consecutive strong performance piling up 240 yards and a touchdown on 233 carries. The Albany State Golden Rams head to Atlanta to face the Maroon Tigers of Morehouse this Saturday.  Morehouse (0-8, 0-5) is seeking their first win of the season. Last week, the Maroon Tigers were decimated 35-0 by SIAC East Division leader Benedict. Morehouse was held to just 140 yards of total offense and just ten first downs. Albany State bounced back from their 24-20 defeat at the hands of Benedict at homecoming last week with a 31-20 defeat of Savannah State on Saturday. Deep in their own territory, Savannah State did themselves no favors by fumbling at their own 1-yard line, which was recovered by Stephan Pierre.
