A pair of Golden Rams prepare to compete at D-II Track&Field Championships

Courtesy of Dr. Earnest Brown , Albany State Athletics Two members of the Golden Rams Track & Field team are ready to compete at the 2023 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The championships will be held May 25th-27th inside the CSU Pueblo ThunderBowl in Pueblo, Colorado with Colorado State University, Pueblo serving as host. A total of 754 participants, 377 men and 377 women, will compete in the championships. Student-athletes qualified for the championships by reaching a provisional standard established for each event. Albany State Track performed well at Emory Spring Break Classic

Courtesy of Dr. Earnest Brown, Albany State Athletics The Albany State Golden Rams track and field teams participate in the Emory Spring Break Classic on March 17-18, at Emory University.  The Golden Rams men finished in 5th place out of 16 teams with 65 points.  Kibren Moore finished 3rd in the M 100m with a time of 10.49.  Kibren also finished 5th in the M 200m with a time of 22.14. Jordan Smith finished 2nd in the M 400m with a time of 50.06.  Jordan finished 1st in the M 400h with a time of 55.43.  Jordan finished…

Albany State track finishes first at Clark Atlanta University Panther Invite

Courtesy of Dr. Earnest Brown, Albany State Athletics The Albany State Golden Rams track and field team participated in the CAU Panther Invite on Saturday, March 11, in Atlanta, Georgia.  The Golden Rams were outstanding as they finished with 187 points to lead the field at the Clark-Atlanta University Panther Invite. Albany State won the Men 4×100 Relay with a time of 41.34.  The team consisted of Jackson, Gilbert, Carter and Moore.  The Golden Rams also placed 4th with a time of 43.08.  That team consisted of Smith, Forsythe, Hutchinson and Williams.  Jayvon Hutchinson…

Saturday, April 9 Albany State will host the 2022 iteration of the Alice Coachman Invatational. Here is a brief bit of Alice Coachman history via Albany State Athletics : Alice Coachman made history at the 1948 Olympics in London when she leaped to a record-breaking height of 5 feet, 6 and 1/8 inches in the high jump finals to become the first Black woman to win an Olympic gold medal.  Coachman was born on November 9, 1923, in Albany, Georgia.  By 1946, the same year she enrolled in Albany State…
