Saturday’s game between the Albany State Golden Rams and the Golden Bears of Miles College started at 8:05, a little more than an hour later than its scheduled 7p.m. kickoff time due to lightning and heavy rain. Albany State gets first win of the season

After being outscored 110-35 in their first three games and going winless, the Albany State Golden Rams headed to Lane Field to take on the Lane Dragons needing a win in the worst way. After Lane and Albany State alternated punts on the first three possessions of the game, Albany State would initiate the game’s first score when a 4 play, 42 yard drive was capped off when Kelias Williams found Mike Green all alone for a 24-yard touchdown pass. Albany State names Patrick Gayle as Men’s Basketball Coach

Albany State introduced Patrick Gayle as their new Men’s Basketball coach as a press conference earlier this week. Gayle comes to the Golden Rams after compiling a 125-51 record , two regular season conference championships and four NAIA tournament berths in six seasons as the head coach at Division II St. Thomas University. Last season he led St.Thomas to a 23-8 record and the Sun Conference regular season title. Gayle was also named the Sun Conference Coach of the Year. Of the nearly 600 students that received their degrees Saturday during Albany State University’s Fall Commencment, twenty-nine of them were student-athletes. Split over the course of the morning and evening sessions, the twenty-nine student-athletes represented eight teams. Albany State’s run in the SIAC tournament was brought to an end by Clark-Atlanta in 57-55 in their quarterfinal matchup. Albany State came out of the gate to take an 11-2 lead. Randy McClure picked a great time to have his best scoring game of the season. The sophomore guard poured in 27 points to lead the Golden Rams past the Thoroughbreds in the opening round of the SIAC tournament. The Golden Rams will have travel laden slate this fall with seven games on the road, including neutral site contests in Phenix City, Alabama (White Water Classic) and Columbus, Georgia (Fountain City Classic). Albany State defeats Tuskegee 69-60 in regular season finale

The Albany State Golden Rams (7-20, 7-12 SIAC) capped off a challenging regular season with a 69-60 victory over Tuskegee. University (7-21, 5-14 SIAC). The Rams led wire-to-wire and led by as many as 19. Albany State’s offense shot a very efficient 50% , including going 4-7 from downtown. Albany State powers late to 34-10 win over Morehouse

The Albany State Golden Rams overcame a one point halftime deficit and then pulled away late in their 34-10 victory over the Morehouse College Maroon Tigers. Defense was the story of the first half for both ball clubs as the respective units for the Rams and Tigers gave up a combined 107 yards of total offense.
