Offensive issues continue to plague Tennessee State

This season Tennessee State is 2-7 overall and remains winless at 0-5 within the confines of the Big South-OVC.  While no team is perfect, those deficiencies become all the more glaring as a team’s record dips below .500. Image via Doug Burt For his gridiron exploits this past week, North Carolina Central wide receiver Chauncey Spikes was named Stats Perform HBCU National Player of the Week.  In the Eagles’ 35-14 win over Howard Saturday, the senior hauled in 9 passes for a career-high 208 yards and 3 touchdowns. Tennessee State falls to Lindenwood 35-13

Tennessee State got off to a strong start, scoring on its first drive and taking a 10-7 lead in the latter portion of the first quarter. The Golden Rams of Albany State have broken into national rankings. ASU enters the AFCA Division II Coaches Poll, presented by Hudl at No. 21. Tennessee State named Stats Perform HBCU FCS National Team of the Week

Tennessee State was named the Stats Perform HBCU FCS National Team of the Week, the organization announced on Monday. Tennessee State (2-5, 0-3) defeated Howard 24-7 Saturday, in a proper culmination of its Homecoming festivities.  Tigers quarterback Byron McNair completed 18 of 22 passes for 174 yards and three touchdowns; McNair also recorded a team-high 47 yards rushing on 8 attempts.  Linebacker Micah Gay helped spearhead a defensive effort that limited the Howard offense to 7 points and just 183 yards of total offense.
