Jackson State’s Jacobian Morgan named HBCU National Player of the Week

Image via Jackson State Athletics For his gridiron exploits this weekend, Jackson State quarterback Jacobian Morgan was named the BOXTOROW National HBCU Player of the Week.  In the Tigers’ 38-13 win over Southern in the BoomBox Classic, the grad student had his most statistically prolific game of the year. Morgan completed 21 of 31 passes for 337 yards, 2 touchdowns, of 51 and 82 yards respectively, and no interceptions.  This season the Syracuse transfer has completed 50-of-88 passes for 615 yards, 2 touchdowns, and an interception.  Morgan will be highlighted on…

Jackson State’s JaCobian Morgan named Phil Steele SWAC Offensive Player of the Year, over a dozen JSU players named to Preseason All-Conference Teams

Courtesy of Jackson State Athletics: Jackson State had 13 players named to 16 spots on the Phil Steele Preseason All-Conference Team released on Friday, including the offensive player of the year and nine first team positions. JaCobian Morgan was named First Team quarterback and the Preseason Offensive Player of the Year award after earning Offensive Most Valuable Player at the Cricket Celebration Bowl last season. The graduate student finished last season with 2,051 yards through the air on 150-of-234 passing, finishing the season 10-1 as a starter, including 10 consecutive wins.…

TC Taylor names starter for Jackson State’s Week 1 matchup

Earlier Monday on the SWAC Media Call, Jackson State head coach TC Taylor said Jacobian Morgan would be the Tigers’ starting quarterback for their Week 1 opener against Louisiana-Monroe.  Last season the Syracuse transfer appeared in six games for the Tigers, completing 83 of 123 passes for 842 yards, 10 touchdowns, and an interception. His best statistical effort was 26-36 for 373 yards and 5 touchdowns in a 40-14 beatdown of Arkansas Pine Bluff on October 28.  The Thursday night meeting will be the second between the two schools.
