A Phoenix Arizona non-profit , Cloud Covered Streets ,gave out 210 pairs of brand new sneakers to those in need this week. Since August the organisation has taken a mobile laundry shower and laundry built by their executive director Robert Thornton around the area three times per week. In addition getting a shower, people can also get new clothes, haircuts and some essential supplies. “We have blacks, whites, Hispanic, Native Americans, gay, straight, transgender– everybody. JJ Watt’s recently released latest Reebok signature sneaker, the JJ IV, induces a “His & Hers” collection of couples training shoes. Watt shared the news of the women’s-specific JJ IV on his twitter; he also announced that for every pair sold the Watts will donate a pair to the Mission of Yahweh Women’s Shelter. The “IV Him and Her” pack is available at reebok.com where they both carry a $99.99 USD sticker price.

Making Kicks Count: Lebron James and Upper Deck teaming up to sell his game worn shoes

Via Jessica Golden of CNBC LeBron James is teaming up with Upper Deck, to sell his game-worn sneakers online. It’s part of an effort to raise money for the I Promise School, a public elementary school in Akron, Ohio. A single shoe costs between $15,000 and $30,000 on Upper Deck’s site where there are currently 97 shoes available to buy. 114 shoes were made available when the initiative first launched two years ago, but now people can buy the remaining sneakers online. Making Kicks Count: Albany State University athletics teams up with Soles4Souls on Shoe Drive

On October 1, the Albany State University Athletics Department and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) teamed up with SOles4Souls on a shoe drive. The drive seeks new and gently used shoes of all sizes and styles. The shoes are processed and distributed by Soles4Souls for those in need. Donations can be dropped off at the Athletics Department on Albany State’s East and West Campus. When Valley Unified food director Melanie Lagasse saw there were some students in her schools that had a need for some footwear and reached out to a major company to help.
