Albany State spanks Tuskegee in first two games of series

Albany State baseball got off to a smashing good start in their three-game series with the Golden Tigers of Tuskegee University, handing out a pair of beatdowns to the tune of 10-3 and 20-8, respectively. In game 1 the Golden Rams bats got right to work scoring three runs in the top of the first inning, the first coming on a Lavoisier Fisher solo blast to left field. Albany State begins three-game tilt with Golden Tigers today

This weekend the Albany State baseball team ,12-7 (11-3 in the SIAC), will commence a three-game series on Montgomery, Alabama against the Golden Tigers of Tuskegee University, 10-8 (8-3 in the SIAC). This will be the first time the two teams have played in nearly six years, April 27, 2016 to be exact. Tuskegee was victorious, winning 7-5. Malik Bell is leading the Golden Rams with a .455 batting average. Nicholas Hernandez has slammed a team-leading 5 homeruns and also paces the club with 25 hits.  Lavoisier Fisher has knocked in a team-high 22 RBI. First…

Albany State Track has standouts at Emory Spring Break Classic

Courtesy of Dr. Earnest Brown, Albany State Athletics The Golden Rams Track & Field teams competed in the Emory Spring Break Classic on March 18-19 at Emory University, in Atlanta, Georgia. The Golden Rams women finished 10th with a team score of 31.50 while the men finished 7th with a score of 50.  Several athletes posted personal records in the 400m hurdles, 3000m SC and the 5000. Sydney Blackburn won 1st place in the women’s discus throw, improving on her D II national mark. Isaiah McCray finished in the top spot in the men’s triple jump with…

Albany State tennis gets win over Georgia Southwestern

Wednesday the Albany State University women’s tennis team were victorious over the Hurricanes of Georgia Southwestern 5-2. In singles competition, Bianca Leao got it done in straight sets (6-4, 6-4).  Sumana Panauganti won (6-1, 6-0), while Allyah Williams and Carla Sorroche were even more dominant in their matches, both winning (6-0, 6-0). Doubles saw the ASU pairings of  Asia Raulerson & Carla Sorroche and Bianca Leao & Sumana Panauganti both winning their respective matches 6-0. Next up for the Albany State women’s tennis team is a trip to Mobile, AL on March 24 for the Conference Round-Up.

Albany State softball sweeps Savannah State
