Former NFL quarterback and ESPN/SEC Network analyst Tim Tebow is facing renewed scrutiny after investigative journalist Pablo Torre examined his involvement with Life Surge, a Christian organization that sells financial education and mentorship programs.
In a new episode of Pablo Torre Finds Out, produced in partnership with Mother Jones, Torre investigated Life Surge’s business practices and Tebow’s role as one of the organization’s most prominent celebrity speakers.
According to Torre’s reporting, Tebow has appeared at dozens of Life Surge events and was scheduled for more than 20 appearances during 2026. Torre reported that Tebow was paid between $50,000 and $100,000 per appearance, although Life Surge did not confirm those figures.
That would put Tebow’s reported earnings from the appearances in the millions.
What Is Life Surge?
Life Surge holds Christian-themed events featuring celebrity athletes, entertainers and motivational speakers. Tickets to some events can cost as little as $20-$30, according to the investigation.
Attendees are then presented with opportunities to purchase financial education programs.
Torre’s investigation reports that introductory courses can cost $97, while more advanced Life Surge programs known as “SurgeU” can cost anywhere from approximately $10,000 to as much as $40,000 or $50,000, depending on the package.
The programs reportedly focus on subjects including real estate and investing, with Life Surge presenting financial success as a way to further Christian missions.
Allegations of High-Pressure Sales
The investigation includes accounts from former attendees and employees who alleged that Life Surge representatives used high-pressure sales tactics to convince customers to purchase expensive programs.
According to the reporting, some attendees were allegedly encouraged to use newly opened credit cards, home-equity borrowing or retirement funds to finance the programs.
One former attendee told Torre that she received assistance applying for a credit card with a $25,000 limit at a Life Surge event and was encouraged to consider using home equity to pay for the courses.
Life Surge disputed the characterization of its sales practices. The company said it does not train representatives to pressure customers into borrowing money or taking on debt they cannot afford.
Tebow declined to comment when contacted by Torre, according to the investigation.
Why Tebow Is Central to the Story
Tebow has built a significant post-playing career around his Christian faith, making his association with Life Surge an important part of Torre’s investigation.
Torre’s report does not establish that Tebow personally participated in alleged sales practices or knew about every aspect of Life Surge’s business model. Rather, it examines his prominent role in promoting and appearing at the organization’s events and questions what responsibility celebrity headliners have for organizations they represent.
Tebow is also not the only prominent sports figure who has appeared at Life Surge events. Torre’s reporting identified several other athletes and sports-media personalities who have participated in the organization’s events. (Awful Announcing)
The Pablo Torre Factor
Torre’s investigation comes shortly after his reporting on the Los Angeles Clippers’ dealings involving Kawhi Leonard and Aspiration.
That investigation was followed by an NBA probe that resulted in the Clippers being fined $30 million and losing five first-round draft picks. Owner Steve Ballmer was also suspended for one year.
The Life Surge investigation is a separate matter, and the allegations against Life Surge have not resulted in comparable league sanctions.
For now, the central questions surrounding Tebow concern the extent of his relationship with Life Surge, what he knew about the organization’s sales practices, and what responsibility celebrity spokespeople have when promoting high-priced financial programs.
