Tennessee State softball gets comeback win over Georgia State, 5-4

The Tennessee State University softball team bounced back from their their defeat Saturday to Coastal Carolina to get a 5-4 victory over Georgia State Sunday afternoon.

The bats for both team were fairly silent until the fourth inning when a pinch-hit single from Kayil Mothershed played the first run of the day to put the Tigers up 1-0. Georgia State responded in the bottom half of the inning , tying the game off Gabby Benson’s RBI single.

Teh scoring resumed in the first with Tennessee State tacking on two more runs from a Peyton Foitno single that scored Jasmine Brown ( Mikayla Duke also attempted to score on the same play but was thrown out at home). The next Tiger run of the inning would be brought in on a infield single from Lauryn Kinkle.

The Panthers came back with two runs in the bottom of the fifth came on a TSU throwing error and then added another run when Bailee Richardon’s bunt single brought home Emily brown to put GSU up 4-3.

Down to their last out in the top of the seventh, Lauryn Kinkle’s double kept the Tigers alive. Kinkle would score then on an infield throwing error to tie the game at 4 apiece. Facing a 1-2 count, Lauren Farias’ triple to left center would plate the go-ahead run.
