Albany State women’s hoops loses

Courtesy of Dr. Earnest Brown, Albany State Athletics The Albany State Golden Rams women’s basketball team was defeated (64-58) by the Georgia College & State Bobcats on Thursday, December 1, at The Jones Brothers Health, Physical Education and Recreation Complex on the ASU East Campus.  With the loss, the Golden Rams fell to (3-4) overall and (1-1) in the SIAC.  The Bobcats improved to (7-1) overall and (0-0) in the Peach Belt Conference.  The Golden Rams played without their top two leading scorers, Juanisha Black and Kashay Hankerson, who are out indefinitely with injuries. …

SIAC Announces Football Scheduling format changes

The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) has announced that it will move to a 4-4-2 football scheduling model, released by the league on Thursday. Starting in 2023, the league will eliminate divisions and will conclude the regular season with the SIAC Football Championship Game, presented by Cricket, that will pit the top two teams against each other based on winning percentage in conference play. “The new SIAC football scheduling model will help to provide significant advantages for our schools and league,” said SIAC Commissioner Anthony Holloman. “The most important advantage is the benefit we are giving…

CIAA News: Jada Byers named D2CCA Super Region 2 Offensive POTY

Courtesy of the CIAA CHARLOTTE, NC – The Division II Conference Commissioner’s Association (D2CCA) announced the 2022 All-Super Region Two football team Thursday afternoon with five players from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA), the nation’s oldest historically Black athletic conference, being selected. Honorees from the CIAA were headlined by Virginia Union running back Jada Byers, who was chosen as the 2022 D2CCA Super Region Two Offensive Player of the Year.
