JaCobian Morgan Signs CFL Deal with Hamilton Tiger-Cats

Former Jackson State quarterback JaCobian Morgan is taking his talents to the professional level, signing with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League.

Morgan’s signing marks another milestone for both his career and the continued visibility of HBCU talent on the professional stage.

🔍 A Proven Winner at Jackson State

During his time with the Jackson State Tigers, Morgan developed into one of the SWAC’s most reliable quarterbacks.  The 2025 appeared in 26 games for the Tigers, completing 325 of 525 passes for 4,080 yards and 40 touchdowns, showcasing poise, arm strength, and command of the offense.

Morgan played a pivotal role in helping Jackson State capture a conference championship and the 2024 Celebration Bowl victory. He completed 15 of 21 passes for 233 yards and 2 touchdowns and was named offensive MVP of the game, further cementing his legacy within the program.

🧠 Opportunity in the CFL

Morgan now enters a new chapter in Hamilton, where he’ll compete for a roster spot in a league known for its unique style of play. The CFL game differs from the American version in several key ways, including:

  • Three-down football
  • A wider field
  • Faster offensive tempo

Adjusting to those differences will be critical as Morgan works to carve out a role with the Tiger-Cats.

💪 Tools That Translate

At 6-foot-4 and over 220 pounds, Morgan brings ideal size and physical tools to the quarterback position. His experience in high-pressure games and ability to lead a winning program could give him an edge as he enters training camp.

🌍 Bigger Picture

Morgan’s signing is yet another example of HBCU athletes earning opportunities at the professional level. Programs like Jackson State continue to produce NFL- and CFL-caliber talent, reinforcing their importance in the football ecosystem.

If Morgan can adapt quickly and make an impression, he could be the next HBCU quarterback to turn a CFL opportunity into a long-term professional career.
