Albany State falters in second half ,goes down 66-63 to GA Southwestern

The Georgia Southwestern Hurricanes avenged an early season loss by defeating the Albany State Golden Rams tonight 66-63.  The Hurricanes improve to 1-3 overall while the Golden Rams fall to 1-6.
 
The Golden Rams seemed destined for a win as they raced to a 35-23 lead at the half.  The Golden Rams shot 45.2% from the field and a blistering 50% from the 3-point line in the half.  The Golden Rams were just as efficient on the defensive end as they held the Hurricanes to 32.1% from the field and 11.1% from the 3-point line in the half.
 
Victor Robinson was hot early as he led the Golden Rams in scoring with 9 points at the half.  Malik Parker had 7 points at the break while Amari Beacham came off the bench to score 8 points.
 
The 2nd half was the complete opposite for the Golden Rams as they were outscored 43-28.  The Hurricanes opened the 2nd half in a zone that caused the Golden Rams to settle for multiple bad shots as the shot clock expired.  As a result, the Golden Rams shot 31.8% from the field in the 2nd half.  In contrast, the Hurricanes shot 59.3% in the 2nd half.
 
Brady Rankin led the charge in the 2nd half as he finished with 17 points.  Donte Tatum contributed with 12 points and 4 rebounds.  Devon Higgs finished with 10 points and 9 rebounds.
 
Malik Parker led the Golden Rams with 18 points before fouling out.  Victor Robinsonscored 14 points.  Jordan Simpson contributed with 8 points and 11 rebounds.
 
The Golden Rams will be back in action on Saturday as they host West Florida at 4:00 pm at the ASU West Campus Arena.
