Albany State linebacker Stephan Pierre and defensive back James Hawkins were selected to play in the 2023 HBCU Legacy Bowl.

After winning the SIAC MVP and Defensive Player of the Year last season, Pierre followed that up with SIAC All-Conference First Team season. The Tallahassee, Florida product recorded 84 total tackles ( 58 solo), 9 tackles for loss, 5 sacks, 1 forced fumble and a 1 fumble recovery.

Fayetteville, Georgia’s James Hawkins also was named to the SIAC All-Conference First Team. The senior defensive backs finished the season with 32 tackles ( 23 solo), 5 pass break ups and a fumble recovery.
The HBCU Legacy Bowl is a postseason All-Star game that allows the top draft eligible players from HBCUs to displays their talents on a national level. The game will be played Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 3:00 pm from Yulman Field in New Orleans, Louisiana. The contest will air on the NFL Network.
Last year Golden Rams Miquail Harvey , who was named SIAC All-Conference First Team and Coemba Jones , who made the SIAC All -Conference Second Team, took part in the inaugural Legacy Bowl.
