SWAC women’s hoops 2024-25 preseason honors and predicted order of finish

The Southwestern Athletic Conference announced its 2024-25 Women’s Basketball Predicted Order of Finish and Preseason All-SWAC teams and individual award winners during the league’s media day event on Thursday morning. The all-conference honors and preseason poll were voted on by the league’s head coaches and sports information directors.   Grambling State was tabbed as the favorite heading into the season. Tennessee State’s Draylen Ellis named BOXTOROW HBCU Player of the Week

Tennessee State quarterback Draylen Ellis was named BOXTOROW HBCU Player of the Week. In the Tigers’ 41-28 win over Arkansas Pine Bluff in the35rg Southern Heritage Classic. Ellis completed 20 of 33 passes for 226 yards along with 3 touchdowns. Ellis’ performance garnered him the Southern Heritage Classic MVP. On the season, the reigning Big South-OVC Co-Offensive Player of the Week has completed 58 of 91 passes for 712 yards, 6 touchdowns and just a single interception.

This Saturday the Marauders of Central State University will take on the Golden Rams of Albany State University in the inaugural Frederick Douglass HBCU Football Classic in Rochester, New York.
