Albany State Volleyball releases 2024 schedule

Courtesy of Albany State Athletics Albany, GA—The Albany State University women’s volleyball team released its 2024 schedule on Monday, July 29th. The season includes twenty-seven (27) matches, comprised of eight (8) home matches and three tournaments. Veteran Head Coach, Verneice Graham, will lead her team as they kick off the season with a match against Middle Georgia State University on September 3rd inside HPER Complex. The Netherlands took home Olympic gold in 3-on-3 play, defeating host country France 18-17 in exciting fashion on a game-winner by Worthy De Jong in overtime. Alabama State prez Dr. Quinton T. Ross selected to NCAA Division I Finance committee

Ross, Jr., has been selected as a member of the NCAA Division I Finance Committee. Grambling soccer predicted to take the SWAC

Courtesy of Curtis Ford, Grambling State Athletics The Grambling State University women’s soccer team has been picked to finish first in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) preseason poll, announced by the conference on Monday morning.  The Tigers enter the 2024 season fresh off a dominating 2023 campaign that saw them win the SWAC Tournament and go unbeaten in conference play. GSU finished last season 15-5-4 overall and 8-0-1 in the SWAC. Grambling State was picked first with 164 points and 10 first place votes. They were followed by SWAC tournament runner-up…

Myles Crawley named to Urban Edge Network HBCU+ FCS National Player of the Year watch list

Courtesy of Curtis Ford, Grambling State Athletics Grambling State’s Myles Crawley added another preseason accolade this week as he was named to the Urban Edge Network HBCU+ FCS National Player of the Year watch list.  Crawley, who was picked as the preseason SWAC Offensive Player of the Year and is on the Walter Payton Award preseason watch list, had a remarkable 2023 season at GSU. Three HBCUs get votes in the Stats Perform FCS Preseason Top 25 Poll

The Stats Performed FCS Preseason Top 25 Poll was released and three HBCUs- Florida A&M, North Carolina Central, and Alabama State all received votes.  Last season the Rattlers of Florida A&M 12-1 (8-0) as the SWAC and the Celebration Bowl champions. They ended the 2023 campaign ranked 11th in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 poll. FAMU received 65 votes in the preseason poll, placing the Rattlers 30th. Florida A&M punter Trey Wilhoit named to FCS Punter of the Year Watch List

Last season the Eastern Illinois transfer was second in the SWAC, averaging 44.2 yards per kick and led the conference with 15 punts of 50 or more yards.
