Day 2 of NCAA Tournament ends with a bang

The round of 64 wrapped up tonight and it did not disappoint. Upsets were the order of the day, the biggest of which was 15 seeded Middle Tennessee State upending 2nd seeded Michigan State, 90-81. Others included in the East, 14 seed Stephen F. Austin bouncing 3 seed West Virginia 70-56; in the South, 13 seed Hawaii ended California’s tournament,77-66. Mateen Cleaves alleged in sexual assault 

Former Michigan State star basketball player Mateen Cleaves has been charged of sexual assault of a 24 year Mount Morris, Michigan woman. Cleaves has been been charged with unlawful imprisonment, assault with intent tocommit criminal sexual penetration, second-degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct. The charges stem from a September 2015 incident following a charity golf tournament and could carry a 15 year prison term. Buccaneers signs CB Grimes

Although some teams were allegedly frightened off by his wife’s antics, Tampa Bay Bucs signed free agent DB Brent Grimes to a 2 year, $16.5 million deal. The Pro Bowler had been released Wednesday by the Dolphins shortly after their acquisition of Byron Maxwell from the Philadelphia Eagles. Companies severing ties with Sharapova

The financial implications from Maria Sharapova’s failed doping test, have already become apparent, as several companies are cutting ties with the tennis star. Shortly after news of the announcement broke, athletic apparel giant, Nike suspended the 8 year/ $70 million deal that included a clothing line, which was extended in 2010. Maria Sharapova admits to using banned substance 

Tennis star Maria Sharapova announced today that she tested positive for the banned substance meldonium, which was initially developed in Latvia for heart patients to aid oxygen flow. Speaking earlier today at a Los Angeles press conference, Sharapova stated she been taking meldonium since 2006 and that she did not realize it was on the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) banned substances list.
