Celtics sitting seven for Wizards game

As we wind down to the last games of the NBA season, and teams gear up for the playoffs ( or the offseason), resting players is a common occurrence. The Boston Celtics may need to give gamers to field a full team because they will have seven players out for Wednesday night’s game against the Washington Wizards. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, the Miami Heat have waived forward Rodney McGruder. The move seems to be a cost-cutting one , as indicated by the South Florida Sun Sentinel’s Ira Winderman. Even if another team does claim him, McGruder is playoff ineligible. In his three seasons in the NBA, all with the Heat, the 6’4” guard has started 112 of the 161 games he has appeared in and averaged 6.8 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 23.6 minutes per contest. The Boston Celtics and coach Brad Stevens announced earlier today that forward Jaylen Brown ( lower back spasms) would likely be out for the team’s game Wednesday night against the Miami Heat. Brown is averaging 13 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists this season, but has not taken the step forward that many thought he would coming off the strong play he exhibited in the later portion of last season as well as during their playoff run that came up half a quarter short of ending in the NBA Finals.
