New Mexico State suspends basketball season indefinitely in lieu of fresh set of allegations

The new allegations have prompted an investigation by the school and led to the coaching staff being put on paid administrative leave, the statement said. Texas coach Chris Beard arrested on assault charges

Early Monday morning, Texas men’s basketball head coach Chris Beard was arrested and charged with assault on a family member. Police responded to a “disturbance-urgent” call at a 2:07 a.m Monday morning. According to the Travis County Sherriff’s Office website, Beard was booked at 4:18 am. A spokesperson for the Austin police told the Austin American-Statesman that Beard strangled someone at a home in Tarrytown, an Austin neighborhood.
