Virginia State smacks around Johnson C. Smith 34-7

Virginia State notched its second win of the season in a 34-7 rout of Johnson C. Smith. The Trojans’ offense did need much time to get to work, taking a 7-0 lead on Jevon LaPierre’s five-yard touchdown run with 12:25 to go in the opening period. A little less than four minutes later, Virginia State would increase their advantage to 14-0 when Demetrius Strickland scored on a fifteen-yard run with 8:33 left in the opening period. Smith University women’s tennis team was named to the 2019 Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Team and six Golden Bulls earned individual ITA Scholar-Athlete honors, the ITA announced Thursday. This year the Intercollegiate Tennis Association saw an increase in qualifying teams and scholar-athletes. All-Academic honors were awarded to 940 teams and thousands of scholar-athletes.  JCSU women’s team who earned All-Academic honors individual academic accolades are Alisa Stevenson, Aleena Oakley, Aria Springfield, Cierra Turner, Jada Strickland and Halle Parker.
