Tennessee State’s Lowery named Big South-OVC Special Teams Player of the Week

Tennessee State kicker James Lowery was named Co-Big South-OVC Special Teams Player of the Week. In the Tigers 27-20 win over Kennesaw State on Saturday, the junior kicker belted a career-long 51 yard kick and also connected from 41-yards, extending his streak of consecutive kicks to five, all of which have come from at least 40-yards. Lowery was also 3-3 on extra points on the afternoon. This was the second time on the season Lowery has earned all-Conference honors.

Tennessee State gets wire-to-wire win over Kennesaw State

Behind a strong defensive effort,  The Tennessee State Tigers went on the road and picked up a win against the Owls of Kennesaw State, 27-20.  The Tigers struck first, scoring on a 51-yard field goal off the foot of James Lowery to take a 3-0 lead early in the first quarter. Tennessee State’s Monroe Beard named Big South-OVC Co-Defensive Player of the Week

Tennessee State linebacker Monroe Beard was named Big South-OVC Co-Defensive Player of the Week. Beard, a junior out of Chattaanooga, Tennessee, set the TSU single-gmae record for tackles, with 19 in the Tigers, 20-10 loss at UT Martin on Saturday. On the most recent Big South-OVC Football media call, Tennessee State head coach Eddie Eddie George was very complimentary of Beard, referring to him as “selfless”, “fiery” and some someone “who represents everything it is to be a Tennessee State Tiger.” Beard leads the conference in tackles with 49 total…

Norfolk State kicker Noah Tracey named MEAC Rookie of the Week

AD/Communications, Norfolk State Athletics Norfolk State University freshman kicker Noah Tracey was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Rookie Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.  Tracey, a native of Springwood, Australia, punted the ball five times on Saturday against Temple for 194 yards, with one punt inside the 20-yard line. Tennessee State was able to get their second win of the season with a dramatic, come from behind-from-behind 27-25 win over 2022 Big South champion Gardner Webb in the 25th John A. Merritt Classic.  After falling behind early,Tennessee State was able to pull even twice, with touchdowns from Daveon Bryant and a Da’Shon Davis squaring the game at 7 and 14 apiece, respectively, but would go into halftime down 17-14.
