Ohio Valley Conference announces 2025-26 Basketball Schedule

The Ohio Valley Conference announced its mens and women’s basketball conference schedule for the 2025-26 season.  Once more, the conference tilt features a 20-game round robin docket amongst the 11 conference members. Each team will play a pair of conference matchups before Christmas; the post-Christmas docket will resume December 30, concluding Saturday, February 28, 2026.  The 2026 Men’s and Women’s OVC Basketball Tournament will take place March 4-7 at Evansville, Indiana’s Ford Center.  Every conference game and home non-conference matchups can be seen on the ESPN family of networks, with…

Jackson State 17th in Stats Perform FCS Preseason Top 25 Poll

The Jackson State Tigers sit at no.17 in the Stats Perform FCS Preseason Top 25 rankings. JSU went 12-2, including 8-0 within the Southwestern Athletic Conference. Jackson State ended the season on a 10-game winning streak, which included winning the SWAC Championship and the HBCU national championship in the Celebration Bowl.  The Tigers ended last season ranked 18th in the polls. Norfolk State’s Ings and Darden to take part in NBPA HBCU Top 50 Camp

Norfolk State basketballers Jaylani Darden and Christian Ings will participate in the seventh annual National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) HBCU Top 50 Camp, which takes place this week at Morehouse College from July 31 through August 2.  This season, Ings posted per game averages of 12.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists on .489/.473/.736 shooting splits and was named to the All-MEAC Third Team. As he prepares for his 23rd season, LeBron James was wearing a wear test iteration of the LeBron 23 in a recent training session.  The LeBron 23 will be a lower collared silhouette, a feature that has been an integral design element of every model since the XX. Shannon Harris has the interim tag removed as DC Defenders Head Coach, will also be Tennessee State Co-Offensive Coordinator

Wednesday the DC Defenders made Shannon Harris their official head coach, dropping the interim from his title.  Harris led the defenders to the UFL championship following the departure of Reggie Barlow to become the head coach at Tennessee State. His achievement marked the first time an HBCU graduate led a pro football team to championship.  It was assumed that his time with the defenders was coming to an end after news emerged that Harris was accepting the Co-Offensive Coordinator role on Reggie Barlow’s staff at TSU. Norfolk State announces kickoff time for 2025 home football games

Courtesy of Norfolk State Athletics Norfolk State announced kickoff times for its highly anticipated 2025 home football slate on Friday afternoon. The Spartans will open the season against Towson on Thursday, Aug. 28, with kickoff set for 7 p.m. The game will air nationally on the ESPN family of networks. Stupid Things People Do for Sneakers: thieves execute smash and grab on Miami-Dade sneaker shop

Police in Miami are seeking a trio of individuals who were seen on surveillance video breaking into a local sneaker store.  The footage shows a dark colored SUV parking in front of Kicks Circuit at around 4 A.M. on June 26. Threei persons are seen exiting the vehicle, two removing oak multiple bins, while a third breaches the entrance with multiple kicks to the high-impact glass at the front door.  Upon accessing the store, the thieves wasted little time, quickly filling up the bins they brought with them.  Kicks Circuit…

Toriano Morgan Reportedly Had No Plans to Leave Edward Waters
