Melo suffered a knee contusion in the first half of the team’s game Friday night against the Orlando Magic that kept him out of the second half. Boston Celtics forward Gordon Hayward will miss the team’s Friday night game against the Detroit Pistons. Hayward had been scratched from the Celtics’ game versus the Mavericks on Wednesday. Head coach Brad Stevens said Hayward has been dealing with pain in his left foot for a few weeks. Gasol left Wednesday’s game against the Toronto Raptors with a left hamstring strain after just eight minutes on the floor. Though he is averaging just 6.6 points ( a career low) , 6.6 rebounds and 1.1 blocks, Gasol has started all 27 games he has appeared in and that due to the defensive prowess he still has, even at 34 years old.
