From the Southwestern Athletic Conference: The men’s basketball game scheduled between Prairie View A&M and Grambling State slated to be played on Monday, January 3 has been canceled due to COVID-19 protocols with the PVAMU program. The men’s basketball game scheduled between Alcorn State and Jackson State slated to be played on Monday, January 3 has been rescheduled for Wednesday, January 5. These actions follow the guidelines and protocols set forth by the league and its Sports Administrators Committee and COVID-19 Advisory Committee.

Jackson State v Southeastern Baptist men’s hoops game cancelled

COVID-19 has claimed year another HBCU’s basketball game, the latest being Jackson State’s home opener against Southeastern Baptist, which was scheduled for Wednesday afternoon. This is the second consecutive contest that have been cancelled for the Tigers, their December 21 tilt against Stephen F. Austin cancelled for the same reason. Despite the setback, the JSU men’s hoops( 2-9) team is expectant to resume action when they tip-off Southwestern Athletic Conference play Monday, January 3 against the Tigers of Bethune-Cookman.
