Offensive issues continue to plague Tennessee State

This season Tennessee State is 2-7 overall and remains winless at 0-5 within the confines of the Big South-OVC.  While no team is perfect, those deficiencies become all the more glaring as a team’s record dips below .500. Tennessee State got off to a strong start, scoring on its first drive and taking a 10-7 lead in the latter portion of the first quarter. Tennessee State was named the Stats Perform HBCU FCS National Team of the Week, the organization announced on Monday. Tennessee State (2-5, 0-3) defeated Howard 24-7 Saturday, in a proper culmination of its Homecoming festivities.  Tigers quarterback Byron McNair completed 18 of 22 passes for 174 yards and three touchdowns; McNair also recorded a team-high 47 yards rushing on 8 attempts.  Linebacker Micah Gay helped spearhead a defensive effort that limited the Howard offense to 7 points and just 183 yards of total offense. TSU falls to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in league play.  Kendric Rhymes paced the Tigers rushing attack by accumulating 31 yards over the course of the game. Rhymes also tacked on 53 receiving yards. Zack Simmons-Brown also added 19 yards on the ground.
