A tough season for Tennessee State came to a rough end with a 36-6 loss at the hands of the no.2 ranked Jacksonville State Gamecocks. The scoring did not get going until 4:07 to go in the first half with a Cade Stinnett 19-yard field goal, to give the Gamecocks a 3-0 lead. Tennessee State goes down at Tennessee Tech 30-26

Despite the heroics of Patrick Smith, who caught a career-high three TD passes, Tennessee State came up short against previously winless Tennessee Tech 30-26 in Cookeville. Tennessee Tech opened up the scoring in the first quarter when a 5 play, 47 yard drive resulted in a Nick Madonia 40-yard field goal giving the Golden Eagles a 3-0 lead. Thursday night Tennessee State and Georgia State squared off in the season opener for both teams. The game marked the first ever meeting between the two schools and the second straight season TSU has kicked off its season against a div-1 (FBS) opponent.
