Big South-OVC weekly honors this week after the Tigers’ 54-0 win against Lincoln as the league announced the honors on Monday morning. Terrell Allen was named the Defensive Player of the Week, while Jordan Gant was named Freshman of the Week.

Allen earned his second straight DPOTW award after finishing with seven tackles, 4.0 sacks, 4.0 TFLs, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. This marks Allen’s second straight multi-sack outing and his third straight game of finishing with 2.0+ TFLs.

The Little Rock native recorded back-to-back sacks twice to total four in the game. Allen helped the TSU defense hold Lincoln to 52 yards on the ground on 45 attempts. Allen’s 1.29 sacks per game currently ranks first nationally while his 2.0 tackles for loss per game is second in the FCS. The second-year Tiger has 36 tackles, 14.0 TFLs, and nine sacks.

Redshirt freshman running back Jordan Gant earned Freshman of the Week honors after he amassed 83 yards on the ground and four rushing touchdowns on 12 attempts. The Florida native found the end zone three times in the first half, with his first score coming on a 31-yard scamper that saw him break off several Lincoln defenders.

Gant leads the team with seven rushing scores this season and is second with 345 yards on the ground. His four scores on the ground against LU are tied for second all-time in TSU single-game history.
