Tennessee State linebacker Sanders Ellis was named Big South-OVC Freshman of the Week. In the Tigers’ late game, come from behind 13-9 win over Charleston Southern, Ellis tied Chris Walker for the team lead with 11 total tackles ( 4 solo, 7 assisted) ; he also posted 0.5 tackles for loss and a fumble recovery led to 7 TSU points. Tennessee State finds way to win 13-9 over Charleston Southern

Norfolk State’s Jacquez Jones named HBCU FCS National Player of the Week from Stats Perform

title image via Nick Sutton Norfolk State wide receiver Jacquez Jones was named the HBCU FCS National Player of the Week from Stats Perform.  In the Spartans’ convincing 32-10 victory over VMI, the graduate wideout hauled in 12 passes for 143 yards and 2 touchdowns. His 12 receptions was the second most proficient pass-catching performance in FCS this season.  Up next for Jones and the Spartans is a trip to Indianapolis, IN for a faceoff with North Carolina Central in the Circle City Classic.

Alabama A&M v FAMU rescheduled due to Hurricane Helene
