Blazers send Powell and Covington to Clippers in trade

We have our first notable trade of the pre-deadline frenzy in the NBA.

Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the Portland Trail Blazers and the Los Angeles Clippers have engaged in swap in which LA is sending Eric Bledsoe, Justice Winslow, Keon Johnson and a future second rounder in exchange for Norman Powell and Robert Covington.

The move seems to be more financially driven rather than focused on performance, as according to Bobby Marks, the trade puts the Blazers under the luxury tax.

This is a move that could be a setup to a bigger move or the precursor to Portland deciding to tear it down to the studs and rebuild.
