Jackson State running back Ahmed Miller was named the Co-national HBCU Player of the Week. In the Tiger season opening win against Hampton Miller recorded 180 yards and 2 touchdowns on just 12 carries. One of those scores, a 2-yard touchdown run with five minutes and 32 seconds remaining in the game put Jackson State up 21 to 14, a lead that Jackson State would not relinquish. Jackson State listed at no. 17 AFCA FCS Top 25 Rankings

Defending SWAC and HBCU National Champion Jackson State opens the 2025 season ranked 17th in the AFCA FCS Top 25 Rankings.  Last season JSU recorded a 12-2 overall record and a perfect 8-0 record within the Southwestern Athletic Conference. Jackson State received a total of 200 votes. The Preseason Watch List for the fouth annual Aeneas Williams Award was released by the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame. Three-star and class of 2026 running back Nicholas Tramble committed to Prairie View.
