For women, Jazmin Grayson (Benedict) was named Player of the Week, while Keyshuna Fair (Allen) earned Newcomer of the Week. For men, Cameron Sembly (Allen) was named Player of the Week, alongside, Deshawn Bartley (Benedict) who earned Newcomer of the Week, released by the league office on Tuesday. The Albany State Golden Rams ended their season playing in the SIAC championship game, losing to Spring Hill College 8-7. The Albany State women’s basketball team got it done against Edward Waters, defeating the Tigers 54-49 Saturday afternoon. The two teams came out of the gate cold in the first quarter, shooting a combined 7-29 , 4-15 for ASU and 3-14 for EWC, in an opening period that saw a combined 16 points, with the Golden Rams managing to secure a 10-6 lead after the opening frame. It wasn’t always pretty, but the The Albany State women’s basketball managed to secure a win over Miles College Monday afternoon, 49-41. In a game in which the teams combined for 45 turnovers, the Golden Rams were able to avoid a few of the mistakes that ultimately befell their Golden Bear opponents.
