He recorded 16 points, six rebounds and four assists in 30 minutes. It was his first game for Hottur this season. UVI women’s hoops picked to finish 13th in HBCUAC, Ashukamayah Phillips received conference honors

University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) women’s basketball student-athlete Ashukamayah Phillips was voted to the All-Historically Black College and University Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Preseason Second Team, while the Lady Buccaneers are expected to finish 13th in the conference as voted by the HBCUAC head women’s basketball coaches. The sophomore guard started in all 19 contests for UVI last season. As a freshman, Phillips led the team in scoring, averaging 13.6 points per game, and scored in double-digits in 14 of her team’s 19 games. The 5-foot-7 guard’s best performances came…

CIAA suspends St. Augustine’s Athletics

Courtesy of the CIAA The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA®) has announced the suspension of all sports competition for Saint Augustine’s University (SAU) through the end of the 2024-25 academic year, effective immediately.  The CIAA Board of Directors’ decision was made after the institution’s failure to meet conference compliance requirements, in addition to the concerns regarding SAU’s continued challenges to meet NCAA sports sponsorship and scheduling requirements for the 2024-25 season.   Should Saint Augustine’s elect to continue participating; competition will not count towards CIAA standings and seeding, nor will they…
