Albany State gets key win over Savannah State to keep East Division title hopes alive

Albany State bounced back from their 24-20 defeat at the hands of Benedict at homecoming last week with a 31-20 defeat of Savannah State on Saturday. Deep in their own territory, Savannah State did themselves no favors by fumbling at their own 1-yard line, which was recovered by Stephan Pierre. JaQuez Williams’ punched it in two plays later to put Albany State up 7-0. The SIAC defending champion Albany State Golden Rams (5-1, 3-0) are one of just three HBCU’s , along with Virginia Union and Benedict, to be ranked in both the d2football.com and AFCA D2 polls. The Albany State Golden Rams head to Jacksonville, FL to take on the Tigers of Edward Waters. Albany State (4-1, 2-0) enters the contest off a 20-3 home win over Miles College.
