Grambling’s Myles Crawley named SWAC Preseason Offensive Player of The Year

Courtesy of Curtis Ford, Grambling Athletics Grambling State University quarterback Myles Crawley was named the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Preseason Player of the Year, announced by the conference on Tuesday morning. Crawley solidified himself as one of the best up and coming quarterbacks in the SWAC during the 2023 campaign. Crawley threw for 2,303 yards with a 16 touchdowns last season. He was the first Grambling State quarterback to throw for at least 2,000 yards since Devante Kincaid in 2017. PE Corner: North Carolina Football unveils PE Air Jordan 3 cleats

North Carolina football unveiled a Player Exclusive edition of an Air Jordan 3 cleat.  Borrowing its aesthetic from the “UNC” Air Jordan 3, they sport a white leather upper with elephant print overlays at the toe and wrapping the heel. University blue shows up on the three midfoot eyelets, Jumpman on the tongue, and likely the branding on the rear heel.  Underneath the aforementioned upper resides a university blue moderator plate.  At this time there is no indication of an impending retail release.  Images via uncfootball

Kobe Bryant’s father, Joe “Jellybean” Bryant passes at age 69

Former NBA player Joe “Jellybean” Bryant, the father of Hall of Famer Kobe Bryant, has died. He was 69. An official cause of Bryant’s death was not announced as of Tuesday morning. La Salle University, where Bryant played and coached, said in a statement that Bryant “was a beloved member of the Explorer family and will be dearly missed.” Longtime Philadelphia-area basketball coach Fran Dunphy, who currently is the head coach at La Salle, told the Philadelphia Inquirer that Bryant recently suffered a massive stroke. In an unusual turn, top prospect Alex Sarr maneuvered his way out of the number one pick, deciding against working out for the Atlanta Hawks. Los Angeles Clippers forward Kawhi Leonard has withdrawn from the US Olympic team,  USA Basketball announced Wednesday morning, per The Athletic’’s Shams Charania.  Leonard has been dealing with chronic soreness and inflammation for the past few months. The daughter of Deion Sanders, Alabama A&M guard Shelomi Sanders, has signed a NIL deal with Dexcom U. Dexcom U is the NIL arm of Dexcom, the company is a “pioneer in continuous glucose monitoring (CGM).
