Texas coach Chris Beard arrested on assault charges

Early Monday morning, Texas men’s basketball head coach Chris Beard was arrested and charged with assault on a family member. Police responded to a “disturbance-urgent” call at a 2:07 a.m Monday morning. According to the Travis County Sherriff’s Office website, Beard was booked at 4:18 am. A spokesperson for the Austin police told the Austin American-Statesman that Beard strangled someone at a home in Tarrytown, an Austin neighborhood. Deion Sanders had his introductory press conference today and he announced that his son Shadeur would play for the Buffaloes. The younger Sanders accompanied his father to Boulder shortly after Jackson State’s 43-24 victory to claim their second consecutive SWAC Championship.
