Alabama A&M Pulls Away Late, Ends 47-Year Drought Against Florida A&M

The Bulldogs scored the final 17 points of the game to pull away from the Rattlers, 40–21, Saturday night at Bragg Memorial Stadium, earning their first victory over FAMU since 1979. LORMAN, Miss. — Alcorn State built a 22-point second-half advantage, watched Texas Southern storm all the way back to force overtime, then delivered the final blow. The Braves defeated the Tigers 43-40 in overtime Saturday at Jack Spinks-Marino Casem Stadium, improving to 2-0 in SWAC play while Texas Southern dropped to 0-2 in conference play. The Tigers defeated Southern 35-17 Saturday night at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium, improving to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in SWAC play while extending their winning streak against the Jaguars to eight consecutive games. The drought is finally over. Kentucky State walked into Albany State University Coliseum on Saturday with more than another SIAC football game on the schedule. The Thorobreds were carrying more than two decades of history with them. By the time the afternoon ended, that history had changed. Kentucky State defeated Albany State 24-16, snapping a 12-game losing streak against the Golden Rams and securing its first victory in the series since September 20, 2003. Jackson State quarterback Jared Lockhart is putting together an impressive sophomore campaign, and the numbers now have him sitting atop the FCS in passing efficiency. Through three games, Lockhart owns a 206.82 passing efficiency rating, according to Jackson State’s official statistics.
