For women, Amari Heard (Savannah State) was named Player of the Week, while Sumaiyah Abdur-Rahim (Tuskegee) earned Newcomer of the Week. SIAC Hoops: Albany State women’s hoops gets win over Edward Waters

The Albany State women’s basketball team got it done against Edward Waters, defeating the Tigers 54-49 Saturday afternoon. The two teams came out of the gate cold in the first quarter, shooting a combined 7-29 , 4-15 for ASU and 3-14 for EWC, in an opening period that saw a combined 16 points, with the Golden Rams managing to secure a 10-6 lead after the opening frame. Albany State women’s hoops survives subpar play and gets by Miles 49-41

It wasn’t always pretty, but the The Albany State women’s basketball managed to secure a win over Miles College Monday afternoon, 49-41. In a game in which the teams combined for 45 turnovers, the Golden Rams were able to avoid a few of the mistakes that ultimately befell their Golden Bear opponents.
