Texas coach Chris Beard arrested on assault charges

Early Monday morning, Texas men’s basketball head coach Chris Beard was arrested and charged with assault on a family member. Police responded to a “disturbance-urgent” call at a 2:07 a.m Monday morning. According to the Travis County Sherriff’s Office website, Beard was booked at 4:18 am. A spokesperson for the Austin police told the Austin American-Statesman that Beard strangled someone at a home in Tarrytown, an Austin neighborhood. Travis McMichael gets life for murdering Ahmaud Arbery

Travis McMicheal, one of three white supremacists who lynched Ahmaud Arbery received a life sentence plus ten years in prison after being convicted earlier in the year of attempted kidnapping and the federal hate crime of interference with rights. Harris Stowe State University receives bomb threat

St. Louis, Missouri’s Harris-Stowe State University is the latest HBCU to be the target of a bomb threat Tuesday morning. According to a statement issued by the University, St. Louis Metropolitan Police as well as the FBI have been contacted and are investigating. Authorities are conducting a search of all campus facilities. Classes and university operations, which also include the chow hall have been suspended.
