Jackson State tabbed HBCU FCS Team of the Week.

Jackson State was named the HBCU FCS Team of the week. In the team’s most recent outing, Jackson State defeated Southern 38-13 in the BoomBox Classic, shutting out the Jags in the second half.  It was Jackson State’s seventh consecutive win over its Baton Rouge-based rivals. The Tigers also have been ranked No.1 in Dr. Cavil’s Inside the HBCU Sports Lab top 7 poll rankings for 11 consecutive weeks.

Week 5 of the Dr. Cavil’s Inside the HBCU Sports Lab Top 7 Rankings saw a new team enter the mix, one team change position, while the remainder were carryovers from the previous week.  7. Delaware State Hornets (3-2, 0-0) The  Hornets hang on to 7th place in this week’s rankings. North Carolina Central survives comeback bid, hangs on to win 50-42

The Eagles improved to 4-2 on the season. Kicker Kaleb Robison kicked a 24-yard field goal, his second of the night, with 4:20 left to play, putting the Eagles ahead 50-28. Byron McNair named starter for Saturday’s matchup versus Tennessee Tech

Tennessee State faces in state and still for the time being, conference for Tennessee Tech this Saturday to open Big South-OVC league play. Tennessee State’s offense seemed to find its way in the second quarter, scoring 21 points and racking up 182 yards.
