SIAC Announces Preseason Baseball Honours

Savannah State paced this year’s preseason team with nine selections after closing last season with one of the best records in modern Tigers’ history at 34-12. They led the regular season with a 28-2 conference mark and entered last year’s tournament as the No. 1 seed. The Albany State Golden Rams ended their season playing in the SIAC championship game, losing to Spring Hill College 8-7. The Albany State Baseball team went 32-16 ( 28-7, SIAC), but came up short in the conference championship game, falling 8-7 to Spring Hill. The Goden Rams were tapped to participate in the Black College World Series in Montgomery. Martinez is a native of Maracay, Venezuela and graduated from high school in 2012. Martinez came to the United States in 2015 where he attended ASA College- Miami. From the SIAC:  The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) has announced its 2022 baseball all-conference awards, as voted on by the league’s coaches and sports information directors. Savannah State’s Joe Smith headlines the all-conference team after being selected as the 2022 SIAC Player of the Year alongside Miles’ Kody Long who was named 2022 Starting Pitcher of the Year.
