Jackson State listed at no. 17 AFCA FCS Top 25 Rankings

Defending SWAC and HBCU National Champion Jackson State opens the 2025 season ranked 17th in the AFCA FCS Top 25 Rankings.  Last season JSU recorded a 12-2 overall record and a perfect 8-0 record within the Southwestern Athletic Conference. Jackson State received a total of 200 votes. Three-star and class of 2026 running back Nicholas Tramble committed to Prairie View. JaCobian Morgan was named First Team quarterback and the Preseason Offensive Player of the Year award after earning Offensive Most Valuable Player at the Cricket Celebration Bowl last season. Tennessee State “stepping away” from Southern Heritage Classic

Since the inception of the Southern Heritage Classic in 1990, Tennessee State has been a staple, participating in every playing of the contest.  However, that will change in 2025.
