Huggins’ list includes 56 HBCU football players from across the country including Townsel and Copeland from Hampton. Townsel was second in the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) this season in tackles with 104. A second-team All-CAA pick, Townsel led the Pirates in tackles in both 2022 and 2023.…

FAMU crushes Prairie View 35-14 to claim SWAC Championship

Unfazed by multiple weather delays, the Rattlers of Florida A&M were able to effectively control the clock and run the football on the way to claiming their first SWAC Championship with a 35-14 victory over Prarie View.  On just Prairie View’s fifth snap of the contest, a Trazon Connely pass was tipped and then intercepted by Javan Morgan and returned to the FAMU 40. Tennessee State’s Terrell Allen named Big South-OVC Defensive Player of the Year

For his exploits on the gridiron this season, Tennessee State defensive lineman was named Big South-OVC Defensive Player of the Year. Allen led FCS in sacks with 14.5 (1.32 per game) and 28.0 tackles for loss (2.5 per game). The senior also ranked second in FCS in forced fumbles with 5 ( 0.45 per game).
