Albany State Athletic Department has NCAA probation lifted

Tuesday morning Albany State University announced that the NCAA had removed the school’s athletic probation from probation status. As reported by WALB, back in 2016 Albany State began an internal audit of its athletic program. Following that the University self-reported potential issues to the geniuses at the NCAA. On Day One, Gbai, along with fellow classmate Ameenah Saalih and newcomer Sherri-Anne Norton, each advanced to the 60-meter dash semifinal, clocking in at 7:54, 7.65 and 7.63, respectively. Delaware State announces plan to allow limited fan attendance at indoor sports events

The University is pleased to announce restoration of near-normal spectator attendance at indoor athletic events. After limiting attendance at indoor sporting events for the month of January due to the rise of the Omicron COVID-19 variant, the University has announced a new policy.  Up to 600 spectators can attend the games, including 300 Delaware State University students. Sturgis ran a 10.74 in the 100, the fastest all-weather time in NCAA championship history. Running out of Lane 3, she bested USC’s Twanisha Terry by .05 seconds. The Aggies won the outdoor NCAA title in the event Friday evening at the University of Oregon’s Hayward Field, adding to the indoor championship they won in the event back in March.
